City partners with OpenGov on improved ADA accessibility for 2024 budget

2-7--24 ada budget news release 518x518

Durango, CO:  The City of Durango’s Finance Department has partnered with its third-party financial transparency software provider OpenGov to make Durango’s 2024 Adopted Budget the model for American Disabilities Act-accessible budget books.

“OpenGov has described this effort as the model for ADA budget books,” said Devon Schmidt, the city’s chief financial officer. “We expect to be the first OpenGov client in the state to adopt this initiative.”

The Finance Department is taking this action in response to Colorado state law  HB 21-1110, which strengthened state discrimination laws for individuals with disabilities and called for improved access to state agency digital content.

The City’s 2024 Adopted Budget is available on the city’s website, and residents can always access the OpenGov transparency portal for daily financial information.
