Durango, CO: On Dec. 12, the City of Durango will launch its new, more modern, website design that will offer greater functionality for the public, including a new feature for everyone to soon share their favorite photos.
The city’s public information office has been working with CivicPlus for several months to redesign the city website. CivicPlus has been hosting the city’s website for many years. It periodically offers the city the chance to update the look at no additional cost, which aligns with city’s strategic plan goal of financial excellence and high performing government.
The new design highlights Durango’s mountain landscape and uses images from local parks, the library, and the airport to help residents navigate the site in a visual and familiar way. New anchored buttons on the left-hand side of the screen make things like public meetings and online payments easily accessible on every page. Several other new features have been implemented to help get residents the information they need, like a dedicated section for ongoing city projects at the bottom of the page, and a new interactive way to view our social media platforms.
Through a partnership with Crowdriff, social media users who tag the city in their posted photos will be able to also have those photos considered for inclusion on the website. This component of the site is expected to be live by Jan. 1.
The redesign takes place as the website continues to grow in popularity. Google analytics show it will exceed a record 2 million page views for 2023, up from 1.6 million in 2022. The highest-viewed topics include the city’s News Flashes, Parks and Recreation, Airport and Library.
In addition to the redesign, the city will also be switching to a .gov web domain in 2024 to ensure the public that they are dealing with the official website for the City of Durango.
Please be advised that there will be a transitional period from 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Dec. 12 in which the website may be down.
